One Garment, Multiple Looks

When investing in any item of clothing, it is important that it is not only trans-seasonal but also that it can be worn in multiple ways. If you  make one piece the focal point of multiple looks, not only will you get better value for money, you will also benefit from the creativity involved in developing different outfits and the challenge involved in making one look better than the last! A perfect example is this Claudie Pierlot jumpsuit which I bought a few months ago. I was wearing brogues on the day, and loved the juxtaposition between the more formal suit and the shoe. However, before purchasing, I thought about how I could transform it into a work appropriate outfit with a pair of heels, and into something less androgynous than with the brogues by adding kitten heels and vintage jewellery and keeping my hair and make-up soft and feminine.

Naturally, this logic extends beyond the jumpsuit and of course does not require one to always make a new purchase. If you have a dress or jacket in your wardrobe that you have not worn in ages, why not dust it off and get creative with - try dressing it up, dressing it down, matching it with pieces in a similar colour palette but perhaps with contrasting textures, such as a beige pencil skirt in damask cinched at the waist with a camel leather belt.

With a bit of fashion artistry and a willingness to experiment, a single garment can perform multiple functions in a wardrobe.

Welcome to my blog. My name is Isabel and I am an advocate of style in more than one sense. A former law student and aspiring lawyer with an undying passion for fashion. I'm a strong believer in all things being equal, and think everyone deserves to look and feel fabulous; so I set up this blog. I know from experience how it feels to lack confidence, but also know the transformative powers fashion has to change that. I am not professing to be an expert, but I want to share my experiences and small bit of knowledge in the hope that I can empower others to embrace and love their look.
