Transcend the Trends

Although I sincerely wish I could find the time to make weekly, or even twice-weekly posts, the clue is in the name - I'm an academic "advocate" and therefore studying to become a solicitor. On the bright side, I garner greater inspiration and ideas for my next discussion during the lull between posts.

Much and and all as I adore the soft pastel shades and fly-away fabrics synonymous with Summer, I am revelling in my current preparations for the coming season. One cannot help but conjure up images of crackling log fires and ochre Autumn leaves once the darker colour palette of forest greens and burnt russet appears in the clothing department. My blogging ventures for the next while shall focus on the pieces which I feel work best at transitioning your wardrobe from Summer to Autumn. A classic white shirt, a pair of androgynous patent brogues, or a fne-knit cardigan are adaptable staples and valuable additions to your style arsenal.

My next post will reveal some of the best, classic shirts, brogues, knits and accessories I have spied - from high-street to high-end, and everything in between. In the meantime, here is an example of how one such piece can transition from one outfit to another.

A favourite pair of patent navy brogues, worn with:

Dark-wash jeans, a poplin shirt, art-deco inspired necklace and cashmere wrap;

A printed ankle-grazing jumpsuit, a cropped navy blazer and vintage/antique gold jewellery.

A victoriana style blouse, navy velvet neck-tie, a black wool skirt and  dark tights;

This is merely one demonstration of how I get the most out of the pieces in my wardrobe, and how versatile they can be. More on this note coming before next week...

    Welcome to my blog. My name is Isabel and I am an advocate of style in more than one sense. A former law student and aspiring lawyer with an undying passion for fashion. I'm a strong believer in all things being equal, and think everyone deserves to look and feel fabulous; so I set up this blog. I know from experience how it feels to lack confidence, but also know the transformative powers fashion has to change that. I am not professing to be an expert, but I want to share my experiences and small bit of knowledge in the hope that I can empower others to embrace and love their look.
