Winter Wear - Style and Comfort

I believe that most fashion lovers are divided as to whether they get more excited about dressing for summer or winter. Whilst I love the ethereal, diaphanous chiffons and silks that we associate with warmer weather, I literally get an excited, tingling feeling at the first sight of  a cashmere coat once September rolls around. A fantastic thing about a beautiful coat is that not only does it keep out the winter chill, but it instantly lifts an outfit, and I often find, when properly accessorised it can also enhance my mood by making me feel more chic!

Although it is really worth investing in a good quality one, even an inexpensive grey or black coat can look really stylish, and can be worn with everything from skinny jeans and ankle boots to a dress and ballet flats. A perfect way of adding interest and making a budget buy more unique is to have the buttons changed - I often find that the only give-away with many decent-quality high-street pieces are their buttons; change them, and you have a truly magnificent find with a bit of an edge.

If you are interested in vintage, it can be a great way of finding a very high-quality, wool jacket or pea coat for a fraction of the price of a new one made from the same fabric. The camel coat is a true classic, and for a good reason; the neutral colour goes with everything and somehow adds a touch of elegance to any outfit. I personally love to add a simple silk scarf in a contrasting colour, and then I'm good to go.

This wool camel coat is one of my favourite winter pieces. Its cocoon shape and its length prove invaluable in keeping me cosy, whilst the quality of the fabric and the elegant silhouette give any outfit a more polished finish. If I could only recommend a single item which is a true must-have in your winter wardrobe, it simply has to be a classic coat.

Not forgetting to mention the all important fell-good factor that great style can impart, dressing in the right coat can, I believe, give off an aura of confident sophistication (in the best sense) which can be helpful in actually making you feel more confident. I often live by the mantra "fake it 'til you make it",

Welcome to my blog. My name is Isabel and I am an advocate of style in more than one sense. A former law student and aspiring lawyer with an undying passion for fashion. I'm a strong believer in all things being equal, and think everyone deserves to look and feel fabulous; so I set up this blog. I know from experience how it feels to lack confidence, but also know the transformative powers fashion has to change that. I am not professing to be an expert, but I want to share my experiences and small bit of knowledge in the hope that I can empower others to embrace and love their look.
